Why do SME’s often have difficulty expanding?
In many instances, the managerial structure constitutes the root of this problem. By this we mean the need for the creation of a team surrounding the head of the company, employees and middle management, all of whom participate regularly in the decision-making process. This enables the head of the company to concentrate on strategic issues and to generate real added value.
In order to ensure that this structure works, the support team should not merely consist of a group of employees, who have been promoted to manager status, because they were good at their old jobs, but also because they meet the following criteria:
- Do they have the necessary managerial competencies in addition to their technical competencies?
- Can they really make a valuable contribution to the company’s evolution?
Do they dispose of the right tools to carry out their day to day tasks with their teams and to make the company more efficient than its competitors?
