DOCUMENTATION
Problem outlines and challenges

Internal documentation – Problem outlines

  • The existing documentation foundation no longer fulfils the information requirements of all internal and external addressees. In this context, more documentation means less transparency.
  • Organisational knowledge is not successfully conveyed – an increasing amount of time spent reading and gathering complementary information is correlated with long reaction times and corresponding costs. The documented contents raise additional questions when consulted, or worse, they are not even consulted in the first place.
  • Existing documents cannot be easily used in different contexts. Necessary adjustments are linked to vast additional expenditure.
  • The company’s documentation does not contribute to the actual application of this theoretical knowledge.

Challenges for an effective information management
  • Availability of internal company documentation whose content is read and understood
  • Conveying knowledge that can be applied, implemented and shared immediately
  • Documentation targeted at specific audiences as an integral part of professional information and communication management
  • Standardising documents and their quality for the benefit of all employees
